I remember when she was 3. She handed me the blue crayon and held on to the yellow one so we could color the unicorn together. She put her name right next to mine on the bottom of the page before running it up to her mom to display on the fridge. She looked at me with her pinky out and promised we’d be together forever and ever. I kept my pinky out, a plastered smile on my face, as I watched her mom rip the unicorn off the fridge and tear it to pieces before walking right through me.
